Casual Living Magazine Is Here!

Several months ago I was approached by Casual Living Magazine regarding some of the outdoor spaces that I have had the opportunity to decorate. Outdoor design has become such a hot topic and I was so honored to find out that they wanted to feature some of my work in this popular category! And it is finally here!

I so enjoy taking people through the process of how a space comes together from the very beginning and outdoor rooms are a new area for so many to work on that this article is educational as well as fun. Some key points when decorating outside rooms are:

• Add color! You have a beautiful backdrop that nature provides you so play up pops of reds and oranges or blues and yellows to make your space FUN and VIBRANT.
• Think about defining your space. You could have several areas such as a dining table and chairs, a fire pit/conversation area, a lounge area, and even a kid area. Outdoor area rugs can help define these spaces and add texture, color, and softness to your outdoor living space.
• Fabric can exist outside! In this article I discuss how far our fabric companies have come not only in the beautiful and modern designs but in the durability as well. You can even use it for outdoor draperies!
• Accessories can go outside too! There are plenty of lines of accent pieces that are outdoor safe and even made just to go outside. Now you can add jewelry inside and out!

It may only be January but Spring will be here before we know it (I hope so anyway!) so now is truly the time to start thinking about your outdoor space. You may only need a few new pillows and accent pieces to give it new life this season or you may need an entirely new plan. Either way, I am happy to help!
