Like a lot of you, Fall is my favorite season! The warm colors, the amazing smells, the chilly mornings and all of the fun fall activities like apple picking, going to the pumpkin patch and of course going on a hay ride make this the best time of year! And I am excited to learn all of the fun fall things to do here in Charlotte! We have been getting the Fall feeling around here this weekend but I thought I would share with you first some rooms that I have designed that have Fall inspired colors that are still in style all year round.
The Fall tones like red, orange, gold and yellow, all speak to a lot of us in that they all feel warm, comfortable and inviting. Today, you can use these colors to create a space that speaks to you by using them as accents and not as main focal points such as the wall color or as the sofa fabric, for example. Above, I have used these fall colors in pillows, art work, accessories and some accent fabrics. The larger pieces remain more neutral allowing for a longer lasting design style.
Another element that can help with creating a rich Fall feeling is texture. Above I have used a rustic wooden starburst mirror above a mantle to exude a rustic feeling. Woven wood blinds also help give off a warm and rich look with a rustic texture. Other elements like grasscloth wallpaper and a looped area rug all provide the comfortable elegance that Fall is so well known for.
In the spirit of the season, the Clements had some Fall fun this past weekend.
Campbell actually thought it was more fun to throw the pumpkins off of the porch!
Over and over and over again.
And I have completed my second Pinterest craft! Many bags of candy corn later (I have never ever liked those things) voila!
Whether you tend towards using fall colors inside, outside, or both, I hope that you are getting the Fall flavor in your home!
