Design Tips

Wows that Wow

I often find that Spring is the perfect time to reorganize and redecorate your home. This morning I shared tips on WCNC Charlotte Today about creating “Walls that Wow” to give your home a fresh look this season!

#1 Wall Decor – Art is often a great way to add personality to your home. I want to share a few tips and tricks for best displaying your collected pieces. Start small – too much hanging on a wall can create unwanted contrast and distract the eye as it bounces around the room. Lighten up a dark space and create the illusion of a larger room by hanging a mirror in an entryway, above a mantel, or in an unexpected space! Place together both mirrors and wall art to create added interest.

#2 Wallpaper – Wallpaper is back and simpler to change than ever! With advanced technology, wallpaper is easier to put up, tear down, and replace. New prints and textures with a modern flair are available, providing a quick change and impact into your space. When it comes to wallpaper placement, I tend to use it as a statement in a small room or to add drama on an accent wall.

#3 Trim – It’s always the little things in a room that make a big impact. While trim has a practical use to hide imperfections, it is most often include in design to create a statement. Here you can see where I had a custom geometric pattern incorporated into this remodel. While the walls are a soft neutral, the pattern creates depth and interest on the wall.
